The 1960 Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle known as CERV 1, that was used by Zora Arkus-Duntov as he developed the Corvette in the 1960s will cross the block at Barrett-Jackson\u2019s 46th Annual Scottsdale Auction<\/a>, January 14-22, 2017, at WestWorld of Scottsdale<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CERV 1 (above, photo courtesy of Barrett-Jackson) served as Zora Arkus-Duntov\u2019s personal test bed for what became the Chevrolet Corvette in the 1960s. Fitted with a 377cid aluminum small block V8, an advanced Rochester fuel-injection system, and Indy-style tires and wheels, the car comes with considerable paperwork and history, and stands as one of the experimental landmarks of GM history.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Scottsdale Auction will also feature the Charlie Thomas Collection of more than 140 vehicles that will cross the block at No Reserve. The collection includes a highly collectible 1970 Plymouth Superbird featuring the original V-code 440\/390-hp Six Pack V8, backed by a 4-speed transmission with a pistol-grip shifter. It also has the optional A33 Track Pack and Dana 60 rear, and features Mopar\u2019s iconic Tic-Toc-Tach, radio, power steering, power front disc brakes and tinted glass. Professionally restored to show-winning specifications, this beauty is a Mopar Gold National Show winner.<\/p>\n
