{"id":398412,"date":"2022-02-28T19:04:38","date_gmt":"2022-03-01T00:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/?p=398412"},"modified":"2024-01-10T10:36:25","modified_gmt":"2024-01-10T10:36:25","slug":"company-feature-e-motion-engineering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/company-feature-e-motion-engineering\/","title":{"rendered":"Company Feature: E-Motion Engineering"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Porsche Aftermarket Tuning: The State of Play<\/h2>\n<p>There are few tuning companies in the world who are universally entrusted with the enviable (<em>and <\/em>sometimes unenviable) task of making a Porsche car better than it was when it came from the factory. <a href=\"https:\/\/emotionengineering.co\/\">E-Motion Engineering LLC<\/a>, a California-based Porsche Tuning Specialist, is one such example.<\/p>\n<p>The prospect of achieving the status that comes with this territory will make just about any wide-eyed and ambitious tuning shop\u2014even an already-reputable one\u2014salivate. Optimism is important, but that&#8217;s easy enough to have on tap and certainly not all that&#8217;s truly required for such an undertaking.<\/p>\n<p>These kinds of opportunities are only revealed to those with the necessary arsenal and experience to pursue perfection. Having the audacity to pull something like this off needs to be rooted in something tangible, and in the case of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/emotion_engineering\/?hl=en\">Joey Seely<\/a>\u2014owner of E-Motion Engineering\u2014he certainly has the required credentials to have a crack at it.<\/p>\n<p>While I&#8217;m not going to comment on the politics rampant within automotive tuning culture (as if I&#8217;m in the know, which for the most part, I&#8217;m not), my personal experience with the Porsche community\u2014particularly for 911s\u2014is that it is a predominantly cooperative entity.<\/p>\n<p>Tuning companies around the world often collaborate successfully with each other, releasing products or packages that are compatible with\u2014and complimentary to\u2014one another. It&#8217;s nice to see, especially in a world that seems to be succumbing to widespread tribalism.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Building a Legacy<\/h2>\n<p>This communal approach to enhancing our love of P-cars even has the manufacturer&#8217;s blessing\u2014so much so that Porsche is paradoxically active in this arena, despite what figures like Dr. Frank Walliser and Andreas Preuninger may light-heartedly remark about this particular relationship on occasion.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the legitimacy of it all was recently cemented when Porsche announced that long-time tuning outfit and racing partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/manthey-racing-reveals-performance-kit-for-992-gt3\/\">Manthey Racing<\/a>\u00a0would become part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/dealer.porsche.com\/ca\/langley\/en-CA\/,-w-,News-and-Events\/Manthey-Racing-Explained---The-Newest-Tequipment-Option\">Porsche Tequipment catalogue<\/a>. But if there&#8217;s anyone else who can achieve this rank, it&#8217;s Joey at E-Motion. He&#8217;s even said as much, revealing that he would like to be regarded in the same camp as the RUFs and Mantheys of the Porsche world one day.<\/p>\n<p>More importantly, he&#8217;s been backing those ambitions with his work\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.porsche.com\/en_US\/motorsport\/porsche-935-jeff-zwart-willow-springs-test-pikes-peak-21433.html\">work which Porsche themselves are well acquainted with and just as impressed by.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">The E-Motion(al) Journey<\/h2>\n<p>E-Motion as an entity actually precedes Joey&#8217;s reign, with the tradename and premises previously owned by Jeff Zwart\u2014another big personality in the automotive scene, particularly as it pertains to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. To understand this, we have to trace Joey&#8217;s steps as far back as his days with Peterson Motorsports\u2014a racing team which competed in ALMS, IMSA and 24HLM\u2014where he was an engineer who worked on their championship-winning 996 GT3 RSR (aptly referred to as &#8220;White Lightning&#8221; for a number of seasons in the early 2000s).<\/p>\n<p>Joey earned his keep and staked his reputation on being a suspension-tuning guru, and would eventually take those <em>very<\/em> transferrable skills to the production car space. First he would have a stint with <a href=\"https:\/\/bbiautosport.com\/\">BBI Autosport<\/a> (another California-based tuning company), before setting up his own shop in what we know today as E-Motion Engineering. Over this time, while continuing to be regarded as a <a href=\"https:\/\/emotionengineering.co\/collections\/991-gt3-gt3rs\/products\/gt3-package-stage-4-ludicrous-speed\">suspension specialist<\/a>, E-Motion has also been gaining distinction for their complete builds. The rest as they say, is history.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">An Insider&#8217;s View<\/h2>\n<p>Or is it? A tour of the shop (lots more on that in the video below) would suggest otherwise, as it&#8217;s<em> the<\/em> <em>future\u00a0<\/em>of Porsche street car tuning\u2014through Joey&#8217;s eyes, of course\u2014which looks to be the main headliner here. As a former photography studio, the space continues to be impeccably kept up and is unusually spotless, as if it continued to serve the goals of its previous tenant (who may as well have been a medical surgeon, too).<\/p>\n<p>The pristine and white-lighted disposition inside the building is certainly conducive to a well-functioning operating room\u2014for all things organic or otherwise\u2014which makes it difficult to fathom whether or not a car has done anything except been parked there, if even that. Rest assured, there&#8217;s real work being done on some very real cars, all of it is in plain sight, and Joey is more than happy to show you around if you&#8217;re so inclined.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s face it: words alone were never going to do justice for what needs to be seen with your eyes.
