Today, Porsche announced that they will be officially unveiling the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS on August 17 at 11:00 am ET over livestream.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The broadcast will be streamed exclusively at https:\/\/newstv.porsche.com\/en\/<\/a><\/strong> : a complete recording will be available on all major social media platforms after the event has concluded.<\/p>\n

For Porschephiles and auto enthusiasts alike this is welcome news, as they have been eagerly anticipating the official word from Stuttgart after being teased by a test mule<\/a> and various rumors for months on end.<\/p>\n

This will also mark the introduction of the first 911 RS variant for the current 992-generation. It will link up with the existing roster of GT cars which includes the GT3 and GT3 Touring models<\/a> released last year.<\/p>\n

Worth The Wait<\/h3>\n

The new GT3 RS is poised to be something truly special and groundbreaking, though this is not unexpected from the German automaker these days. For starters, it will inherit the latest GT3’s “Cup-inspired” double wishbone front suspension design.<\/p>\n

Porsche says they’ve made significant improvements for the RS in the aerodynamics and chassis departments. The latest car\u2014albeit in prototype guise\u2014<\/em>has been seen sporting an active rear wing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, they’ve been coy on providing specifics for power figures, with Andreas Preuninger, Director GT Model Line<\/strong> stating:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new 911 GT3 RS is even more optimised for track use than its predecessors. The spontaneously responsive, high-revving four-litre, six-cylinder boxer engine with approximately 500 PS has proven ideal for use at trackdays and club sport events. That’s why we focused primarily on aerodynamics and chassis questions in the development of the new 911 GT3 RS.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

With that being said, we still expect the incoming RS to produce more power than the current GT3. The addition of an extra 30-40 PS would fall nicely in-line with historical trends. Rumors continue to persist that a 4.2-litre unit could be behind this wizardry, but we’ll just have to wait and see.<\/p>\n
