The Auburn Auction<\/a>, hosted by Worldwide Auctioneers<\/a>, is just a week away, and one of the most recent listings for the auction simply leaped out of the website to grab our attention. This is because Lot 615<\/a> is nothing less than an absolutely mint<\/strong><\/em> 1990 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition<\/a>. While lower mileage cars than this one have been sold privately, including the 83 factory miles as new one from Lamborghini of Montreal<\/a>, this specific example, which is expected to break through to seven figures before the gavel strike, has had a single owner since the original purchase, and has only 3,966 miles (6,384 km as it is a Canadian car) on the odometer.<\/p>\n

The 25th Anniversary Edition was a limited run of only 627 cars, so that already puts it in rare air for the collector market. It also was the launching point for a gentleman named Horacio Pagani<\/a> to be set free to redesign the car’s shape and aesthetic, while keeping it unmistakably a Countach<\/a>. It was the most aggressive form of the Countach, with the most powerful version of the classic Lamborghini V12, the Quattrovalvole 48 valve version from the LP5000S<\/a>, as its beating heart, laying down a massive-for-the-time 455 HP.<\/p>\n

This specific example was one of the cars that were sent out to Lamborghini dealerships worldwide to offer to their most loyal customers. It landed at Roy Foss Lamborghini in Toronto, Canada, and was the centerpiece for the sales floor.<\/p>\n

Remember, this is a Canadian car, so that’s 6,384 KM, not miles<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

However, the car was not sold until 1993, when a collector with the funds to keep the car in pristine condition bought it. Since purchasing it, the owner has been meticulous about keeping it in a temperature and humidity controlled garage, except for the once-a-month short drive to let it stretch its legs. He has also had all the fluids flushed out, then filled with new fluids, like clockwork every two years.<\/p>\n

Because of the little time it has spent in the “real world,” this Countach is just about as mint as you can get. The paint has no pits, scratches, bubbles, or errors. The leather of the cabin has been professionally maintained, keeping it looking like it has just come from the upholstering department at Sant’Agata Bolognese. It has been kept so clean and seen so little use, in fact, that the 25th Anniversary door sills, a place that commonly gets a lot of minor scratches, looks like I has been freshly engraved and bolted to the car.<\/p>\n

The engine bay, one area of interest for collectors, is absolutely spotless. No rust, no oil splashes or splatters, just an absolutely mint engine bay.<\/p>\n

In fact, the car is in such good condition that the manufacturer plates on the door, which over time develop small chips in the paint and gather scratches, look absolutely brand new, despite 31 years passing since the car departed from Italian shores.<\/p>\n

As part of the lot, the coveted Lamborghini 4-piece luggage set designed specifically to fit in the Countach is included. Even better, it’s in as-new condition, as it has never been used. The car has a clean CarFax report, as well as all original documents that came with the car, including the bill of sale and the owners manual, all in pristine archive-worthy condition.<\/p>\n

This, for the right bidder, might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get such a pristine example of the fiercest bull from Lamborghini’s stable before the Diablo<\/a> emerged. The Countach was a brutal car in the best way possible, and painted in the classic Rosso Siviglia Red over a Desert Tan interior, it looks just as fierce as was designed to. This is one of the true icons of speed from the last couple of decades of the 20th century, when a Countach poster was on almost every kid’s wall as it was, and still is today, the most classic Lamborghini “poster car.”<\/p>\n
