We’ve recently posted an article about the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS<\/a> putting down a new record time at the N\u00fcrburgring Nordschleife, at just 6:49.328<\/a>, though the track had recently been reconfigured in a way that is a little less flattering than before. This new iteration is the fastest Porsche GT3 RS to date, and also the quickest naturally-aspirated production car to lap the famous ‘Ring’, but it is still just shy of the record-holder, the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series<\/a>\u2014which recorded a 6:43.616 on the “Sport Auto”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

“The new 911 GT3 RS is even more optimized for track use than its predecessors. The spontaneously responsive, high-revving four-liter, six-cylinder boxer engine with approximately 500 PS has proven ideal for use at track days and club sports events. That\u2019s why we focused primarily on aerodynamics and chassis questions in the development of the new 911 GT3 RS.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The revised 4.0L naturally-aspirated flat-6 engine outputs 525 PS, which is 20 PS more than the latest GT3. Much like the displacement factor, the general consensus was that we\u2019d see an even more powerful engine\u2014but those who know, know that peak numbers mean very little these days anyway, but let’s take a look at what it is like actually driving this masterpiece on an enclosed track, like the famous Top Gear track, and while we’re at it, why not go for the 992 Weissach GT3 RS edition with 860 kg of downforce and active aero, driven by Mr JWW<\/a>:<\/p>\n
