After taking the title as the “World’s Fastest Production Car” the previous year, the Shelby SuperCars’ Ultimate Aero<\/a> underwent some upgrades for the 2009 model year. The SSC engineering team boosted the 2009 Ultimate Aero’s horsepower by 15%, redesigned the front fascia, and made significant interior enhancements.<\/p>\n

The most notable change was the addition of an SSC-designed, one-piece billet aluminum engine block. This groundbreaking advancement improved the car’s structural integrity and oiling capabilities, allowing SSC to increase the power output to an impressive 1287 horsepower while enhancing durability.<\/p>\n

With its new, more potent engine, the ’09 Ultimate Aero set a new world-record speed of 270 MPH, pushing the boundaries of current production car technology and raising the bar for supercars. To accommodate the car’s unique fuel system requirements, SSC partnered with American company Aeromotive to develop a flawless system.<\/p>\n

The updated aggressive front end features enhanced aerodynamics to accommodate the 2009 Ultimate Aero’s higher top speed, while carbon fiber louvers on the side intakes draw in an additional 20% of air to improve cooling. Overall, the performance improvements widened the already significant gap between the Ultimate Aero and its competitors.<\/p>\n
