A 296 GTB managed to officially lap around N\u00fcrburgring in less than 7 minutes, making it the first production car from Ferrari to do so. This amazing feat was accomplished by Christian Gebhardt from Sport Auto<\/a> which you can watch in the video below.<\/p>\n

The Ferrari 296 GTB<\/a> is equipped with a mid-mounted 120 degree \u201chot V\u201d 2.9L twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid engine. Through the petrol-driven component alone, the unit is able to produce 645 hp. When the electric motor\u2014<\/em>powered by a\u00a07.45 kwh battery\u2014<\/em>is on full blast, that adds another 167 hp for a grand total of\u00a0830 hp (819 bhp)\u00a0and\u00a0546 lb-ft of torque.<\/p>\n

This helps the new-age Berlinetta sprint from\u00a00-100 km\/h in just 2.9 seconds, while\u00a00-200 km\/h can be achieved in a mere 7.3 seconds, then on its way to a\u00a0top speed of more than 205 mph.<\/p>\n

It’s worth noting though that Ferrari don’t always allow their cars to high-speed runs like this. This also means that only few of their models have recorded official lap times around N\u00fcrburgring.\u00a0 Here’s hoping we get to see more Ferrari cars go at it around the legendary circuit in the future, like the SF90, which could probably go faster than the 296 GTB.<\/p>\n
