After extensive testing, the ‘MR’ kit for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS has been officially added to Porsche’s Tequipment catalogue<\/a><\/strong>. As part of the automaker’s official product line, all Manthey-Racing upgrades are certified-OEM. In conjunction with other iterations of the ‘MR’ kit\u2014seen on cars like the 992 GT3<\/a> and 991 GT2 RS Clubsport<\/a>\u2014aerodynamic, suspension and braking improvements continue to be the focus when it comes to the GT4 RS.<\/p>\n

Familiar Recipe<\/h2>\n

There’s a more aggressive motorsport-derived rear wing, dual front dive planes, and the eye-catching carbon aerodiscs on the rear wheels\u2014all stealing the show aesthetically. Underneath the car, a new carbon underbody and rear diffuser further enhance the aerodynamic performance of the GT4 RS. Overall, downforce is almost doubled<\/strong> when the car is travelling at 124 mph, from 196 lbs to 372 lbs.<\/p>\n

Porsche and Manthey collaborated to further improve upon the GT4 RS’ suspension, resulting with an even more track-oriented setup versus the factory version. The enhancements not only increased spring rates by 20 percent<\/strong>, but also allow for more rebound and compression adjustability without requiring tools. Braided steel brake lines and racing brake pads are also installed to improve pedal feel and general stopping performance.<\/p>\n

As a result of all these changes, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS ‘MR’<\/strong> was able to achieve a lap time of 7:03.121 at the N\u00fcrburgring Nordschleife<\/strong> with brand ambassador and race car driver, J\u00f6rg Bergmeister behind the wheel. That’s an improvement of more than 6 seconds<\/strong> over the regular GT4 RS.<\/p>\n
