In 2018, Porsche rekindled nostalgic flames with a modern iteration of its legendary 935 Group 5 race car. The track-only Porsche 935\/19 was unveiled to coincide with Porsche’s 70th anniversary and pays homage to the original 935 Le Mans-winning race car.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"frontal<\/p>\n

Porshe only made 77 units of the 935\/19 race car, and they were only offered to the carmaker’s top clients. Now, this one, a gulf-liveried example, is number 50 of 77 and is primed\u00a0<\/span>for sale by RM Sotheby’s<\/span><\/a> in August during the Monterey Car Week. It is from the Todd Blue Porsche collection, one of the largest private Porsche collections in the States.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Interior<\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>2019 Porsche 935<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is based on the 991.2-generation 911 GT2 RS Clubsport. However, its design is heavily influenced by the styling of its historic predecessor, the 1978 Porsche 935. You can immediately spot the similarities in the elongated profile finished off by the massive rear wing, an appendage that earned the original car the nickname ‘Moby Dick.’<\/span><\/p>\n

\"side<\/p>\n

Apart from being eye-catching, the Porsche 935’s design also places a high emphasis on functionality. Its aggressive bodywork has been aerodynamically optimized to improve stability and overall driving dynamics.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"A<\/p>\n

The Porsche 935\/19 tackles corners like a champ but is also blisteringly quick in a straight line. It can accelerate to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, and its 211 mph top speed is nothing to be sniffed at. That performance is courtesy of a 700-hp 3.8-litre twin-turbo paired with Porsche’s quick-shifting 7-speed PDK transmission.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"frontal<\/p>\n

There were eight different liveries on offer for the limited-series 935. This one is finished in the iconic Gulf scheme, where bright orange accents contrast the primary blue colour. You also get 18-inch center-locking Cup wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes and the Sports Chrono Package.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Interior<\/p>\n

The minimalist interior is laid out in a combination of carbon fibre and Alcantara. Other features include a quick-release, multi-function steering wheel, special LED lighting, rear-view mirrors and aerodynamic wheel covers. Being a full-on race car, the Porsche 935 is fitted with a roll-cage, escape hatch on the roof, an electrically triggered fire-extinguishing system, and a special Recaro wrap-around racing bucket seat with a six-point safety harness.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Engine<\/p>\n

The Todd Blue Porsche 935\/19 is in pristine condition, having only been driven for approximately four parade laps around Road Atlanta. The sale will also include some spare parts, ideal for the track-day enthusiast keen on exploring the car’s limits at private track events.<\/span><\/p>\n
