This new event, which was open to any vintage racecar, was held at the new Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the time that this issue went to press, a large number of significant historic racecars were confirmed to take part, including examples of the Porsche 917, 907 and 917\/30. In addition to FIA sports cars, Indy cars and F5000 machines, several Formula One cars were slated to take part. Among these were Francois Cevert\u2019s Tyrrell 002 which won the 1972 USGP at Watkins Glen.
