Originally purchased by Odoardo Govoni in May 1960, the car was campaigned by Govoni extensively in Northern Italian events, primarily hillclimbs and occasional track events. His effectiveness was such that he was crowned Italian Hillclimb Champion twice and was runner-up twice in four years, in the 2-liter category.<\/p>\n
Govoni sold the car to a Signor Terra in 1963 and the car was subsequently sold to the current owner in 1966. Perhaps more amazing than this unbroken ownership history is the fact that the car is in original, unrestored condition, as when it was raced in the \u201960s.This combined with the fact that this example is the very first production Tipo 60 ever produced should make for spirited bidding. Christie\u2019s estimates the Maserati\u2019s current market value somewhere between $1.2 million and $1.8 million.
