While Italy was home to the \u201c-ini\u201d factor \u2013 a network of minor constructors mostly turning out small capacity racing cars \u2013 and France had its share of low volume constructors such as DB, Gordini (and later the likes of Grac). None of them delivered quality results consistently, on a world-wide basis or at a price that was, within reason, affordable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/09\/FEA200109-p2-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-675888\" src=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/09\/FEA200109-p2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/09\/FEA200109-p2-1.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/09\/FEA200109-p2-1-300x122.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/09\/FEA200109-p2-1-1024x416.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/09\/FEA200109-p2-1-100x41.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/09\/FEA200109-p2-1-770x313.jpg 770w, https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2001\/09\/FEA200109-p2-1-293x119.jpg 293w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/a>Admittedly, the UK had an advantage in that it enjoyed a highly active racing scene and community which had restarted fairly soon after World War II. This included a burgeoning grassroots club scene active at an increasing number of venues all over the country. This generated a constant source of drivers and racing personnel moving upwards through the sport and taking their talents up the ladder with them.
