The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu in Hampshire is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. On March 19 the museum kicked off the celebration with the opening of a new Motorsport Gallery featuring Britain\u2019s outstanding achievements in Grand Prix and Le Mans racing, as well as rallying, with a number of legendary cars mounted on a sweeping steel track stretching across the museum. Though Lord Montagu himself, who built the collection, was ill, his son Ralph opened the new gallery with famed motorsport commentator Murray Walker.<\/p>\n
On hand were former Grand Prix stars Tony Brooks and Jackie Oliver, sports car racer Win Percy, and Bette Hill, widow of former World Champion Graham and mother of Damon Hill.<\/p>\n
In addition to the new gallery, Beaulieu also plans improvements and expansion of its world-renown archives.<\/p>\n
