October 11-13 will mark the return of historic racing to San Diego\u2019s North Island Naval Air Station as the Chrysler Jeep Classic Speed Festival returns after a one-year hiatus.<\/p>\n

Due to heightened security concerns, the military was forced to cancel last year\u2019s event as a result of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Fortunately, the Navy was anxious to reinstate the event this year, which serves as a key component of both San Diego\u2019s Culligan Holiday Bowl and the Naval Air Station\u2019s annual Fleet Week open house festivities.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event will feature a variety of historic racing machinery including pre-war and early post-war sports cars, \u201950s-\u201960s GT and sports cars, early \u201960s sports racers and the always popular small bore Can-Am and historic Trans-Am cars.
