In order to honor this venerable driver\u2019s series, Road America and DRE\/WREP have organized the Formula Vee 40th Birthday Party Celebration to be held at Elkhart Lake,Wisconsin\u2019s Road America on June 19-22.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Founded in 1963, Formula Vee was created to be an affordable driver\u2019s series that would help train up-and-coming open-wheeled drivers in inexpensive racecars based on Volkswagen Beetle components. Some of the many stars that cut their teeth in Formula Vee include Chris Amon, Adrian Fernandez, Jacques Lazier, and Formula One World Champion, Jochen Rindt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe anticipate between 100 and 200 For\u00admula Vees from all over the U.S.,\u201d says Butch Deer of DRE\/WREP. \u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity to see a purpose-built racecar that was developed to produce American racecar drivers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Formula Vee 40th Birthday Party Celebration will be held as part of the SCCA\u2019s Chicago region June Sprints and will feature races for current and vintage Formula Vees as well as a Saturday evening party, special paddock area and commemorative items.
