Elva cars (Elva being derived from the French elle va or \u201cshe goes\u201d) was the brainchild of Frank Nichols. Nichols built his first car in 1954 and soon was making overhead valve conversion kits for the Ford 105E motor as well as a series of MkI sports racers. In the hands of drivers like Archie Scott-Brown and Dennis Taylor, Elvas racked up numerous wins on the circuits of Britain and the United States and established a solid name for the small manufacturer. As the years went on, Elva produced a variety of sports racers, Formula Juniors and even a road car known as the Elva Courier. However, despite their on-track success, Elva ran into f inancial trouble and eventually ceased all production by 1967.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n
