Our Ed McDonough was able to sit down with both of them as they made plans for the 45th anniversary of Cosworth Engineering.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>VRJ: How did it all start?<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Duckworth: I met Mike presumably around 1954 when I went to Lotus to negotiate to buy a Lotus 6 kit. Possibly, I met him on that occasion. If it wasn\u2019t, then it was when I worked, during my second vacation from university, at Lotus in the summer of \u201955. The first summer that I went to Lotus I was in the general building shop where the cars were built. And I was filing and hacking and making bits for Lotus 6\u2019s, I suppose.
