\"\"<\/a>From 1954\u20131967, Wilmot Hills Raceway, in Wilmot, Wisconsin, played host to a wide variety of road races.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Built by the Chicago region of the SCCA just north of the Illinois\u00adWisconsin border, the 1-mile circuit at Wilmot Hills was one of the first purpose-built race circuits in the Mid-west. The circuit was built on land leased from a ski resort which, considering the fact that the ski lodge was located next to the front straight, meant that racers enjoyed above-average trackside acc\u00adom\u00admodations. How\u00adever, in 1967, the resort decided to expand the lodge and so refused to renew the track\u2019s lease, resulting in Wilmot Hills becoming another one of the many American race circuits to disappear.<\/p>\n

This month\u2019s Web site is devoted to the memory of Wilmot Hills and includes a series of historic photo galleries spanning from 1954\u20131967; photos of the course as it looks today; aerial shots of the facility; and personal memories from those who raced there in its heyday.<\/p>\n
