Founded in 1911 by a Japanese engineer trained in the United States, the Datsun Motor Car Company ranks as one of Japan\u2019s oldest automobile manufacturers. Not only has Datsun been producing automobiles almost as long as the Ford Motor Company, but it also enjoys a rich racing heritage dating back as far as the \u201930s.<\/p>\n

This month\u2019s Web site is devoted exclusively to the history of Datsun. With content devoted to both street and racing cars, this site features an extensive history of the company, as well as individual histories of the various production cars manufactured during the postwar era. But perhaps most interesting to VRJ readers is the various sections devoted to Datsun\u2019s racing history. In addition to an overall racing history that includes the R380 Group 7 \u201cCan-Am\u201d-style cars, there are also sections devoted to Datsun\u2019s rally efforts (in particular the Safari Rally), the 2.5-liter Trans-Am series, and the famed Peter Brock BRE and Bob Sharp efforts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
