Monoposto Racing, North America\u2019s premiere open-wheel vintage racing series, recently crowned two new champions for the 2003 season\u2014Bobby Brown in Formula 70 (F70) and Bob Goeldner in Formula Classic. Champions are named based upon their best results in six races of the Monoposto series and within one of two categories: F70, which consists of F5000, Formula Two, Formula Atlantic and Formula Super Vee cars; and Classic which consists of non-wing and slick Formula B, Formula Two, Formula Junior, Formula Ford and Formula Vee.<\/p>\n

F70 champion Bobby Brown drove his 1979 March 79B Formula Two to six 1st place finishes, securing the championship by a wide margin. In honor of his cham- pionship win, Brown received the Gilles Villeneuve Trophy named in honor of the famous Canadian Formula One driver. In Formula Classic, Bob Goeldner drove his 1969 Brabham BT29 Formula B to three 1st place finishes to narrowly claim the championship. Goeldner received the Juan Manuel Fangio Trophy named in honor of the much-loved five-time Formula One World Champion.<\/p>\n

In addition to the overall champions, individual class champions were also announced and included Dan Baker (Formula Two), Joe Blacker (Formula B), Kevin Smith (Formula Ford), Matt Primack (Formula Junior) and Rich Ernst (Formula Vee). Congratulations to all the 2003 Monoposto champions!<\/p>\n
