\"\"<\/a>In 1966, Jack Brabham adapted one of his F1 chassis to accommodate a 2-liter BMW race motor for hill-climbing. This project soon manifested itself into BMW\u2019s entry into F2 racing. For 1967, John Surtees\u2019 team was hired to run a pair of Lola T100 chassis mated to a 1.6-liter BMW motor, but a host of DNFs caused by the unusual radial head motor hampered the team\u2019s efforts. However, by 1969 BMW had hired Len Terry to design their own complete F2 car, which was to be constructed by Dornier, and would now run the 2-liter BMW M12 race motor, notching up five victories in 1970 at the hands of Jo Siffert, Jacky Ickx and Dieter Quester. In the end, while BMW\u2019s efforts as an F2 manufacturer would be relatively short-lived, their engines would go on to dominate F2 for many years to come.<\/p>\n
