The featured marques for the 2006 Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance will not only include French manufacturers Voisin and Delahaye, but will also feature cars that raced in the Pebble Beach Sports Car Road Races from 1950 to 1956.<\/p>\n

In 1950, the San Francisco chapter of the Sports Car Club of America decided to host the first \u201cEuropean-style\u201d road race on the West Coast of the United States. The venue it selected was a resort on California\u2019s Monterey Peninsula widely known for its scenic 17-Mile Drive through forests and along the Pacific Ocean. The organizers also added a concours d\u2019elegance. For the next six years some of the most exotic and powerful cars in the world raced on the bucolic streets of this exclusive neighborhood. Once an afterthought, the Concours evolved to become the most glamorous, prestigious car show in the world.<\/p>\n
