American historic racer John Delane wrapped up his third FIA TGP championship in the past four years and as such, was invited to Monaco in December to receive his trophy at the official FIA prize giving. Standing on the same stage as current FIA Formula One Champion Fernando Alonso and FIA World Rally Champion S\u00e9bastien Loeb, Delane accepted the crystal trophy for the FIA Historic Formula One, Category A, Championship, which he won driving the first Tyrrell, Chassis 001.<\/p>\n

Delane\u2019s second consecutive championship was secured with class wins at Hockenheim, Brands Hatch, Lausitzring, Zandvoort, Silverstone and Estoril, placing him 1st in class and 5th overall on the season. The ever enthusiastic Delane remarked, \u201cThis is an amazing honor to be able to win this for a third time and to do so in the first ever Tyrrell makes it even more special.\u201d As odd as it may seem, to date, Delane appears to be the only three-time American winner of an FIA championship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
