VIR was first opened in 1957, with the first feature race being won by none other than Carroll Shelby, who was quoted after the race as saying, \u201cOne lap at VIR is like 100 at Watkins Glen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of the many activities to be featured at SAAC-31 will include a driver school, open track sessions, two vintage races, three car shows, a swap meet, a literature &amp; memorabilia auction, parade laps and an evening program with former Shelby staff members.
