For many racing enthusiasts around the globe, it is easy to make the mistake of thinking that racing in Canada is limited just to a few well-known tracks like Mosport or the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. However, this is a gross under-representation of the size and scope of Canadian motorsport. In fact, Canada can lay claim\u2014over the past 60 years\u2014to over 750 racecourses including road courses, ovals, speed bowls and drag strips. Many like Mosport and Mt. Tremblant are still with us, while literally hundreds like Harewood, Rimbey and Greenacres have gone the way of the Dodo. This month\u2019s Web site is devoted to chronicling all of the Canadian racetracks of yesterday and today, as well as providing a forum for Canadian racers and Canadian race history.<\/p>\n
While much of this site is devoted to the many paved and dirt ovals scattered across Canada, there is also a lot of coverage of the Canadian road-racing scene. The centerpiece of this site is a searchable database that includes history, photos, program covers and general information for over 750 racetracks\u2014both tracks operational and defunct. Additionally, there are numerous historical articles on various topics such as F5000 in Canada, early Canadian champions and the running of USAC Indy car races in Canada. Other features include active forums for historical discussion on some of the many lost tracks, links and current race schedules. This site provides some interesting insights into the depth and diversity of Canadian motorsport.<\/p>\n
