Cars International, London-based supplier of high-performance road and racing cars, has entered an exclusive relationship with famed engine-producer Cosworth to supply and service V-10 Formula One engines to customers.<\/p>\n
Cars International\u2019s workshop near Membury in Berkshire, UK, will supply and install the TJ-series, 3.0-liter, Cosworth V-10 that raced in Formula One from 2003 to 2006, most recently with Toro Rosso.<\/p>\n
This engine will be particularly appropriate for the pan-European, EuroBOSS single-seater series as well as for demonstrations and track days in F1 cars. Cars International founder Paul Osborn said: \u201cThere are many late-model F1 cars that people find extremely difficult to adapt as they can\u2019t get the existing available engines into them. Not only are they too big but the crank-height is wrong. The Cosworth TJ will be the only modern, compact engine available.\u201d<\/p>\n
The V-10, which would also be suitable for a Le Mans prototype car will be supplied in two formats: 900 bhp, which will run for 1,200-kms between rebuilds, and 750 bhp for a longer 1,500-kms.<\/p>\n
Cars International Service Director Tim Preston, a former race engineer with the Williams F1 team added \u201cOur intention is to enable a car owner to have the Cosworth engine installed and use our own gearbox and chassis controller unit.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bernard Ferguson, director of motorsport at Cosworth in Northampton, said, \u201cWe\u2019re delighted with this arrangement. We are very impressed with Cars International as it is important that the customer gets the right level of service and we want to work with organizations that can enhance what Cosworth can provide. There is a need in the marketplace for a contemporary, lightweight, narrow V-angle engine.\u201d<\/p>\n
