The Ferrari 599 GTO<\/a> is only the third model from the Maranello marque to bear the revered ‘Gran Turismo Omologato’ name, following the 250 GTO<\/a> and 288 GTO<\/a>. Building upon the solid foundation of the already capable 599 GTB, the 599 GTO incorporated knowledge gained from Ferrari’s exclusive 599XX<\/a> track-only special, resulting in the fastest road car produced in Maranello at that time.<\/p>\n

Designed as a rawer and more track-focused variant of the 599, the 599 GTO shed approximately 220 lbs compared to the standard model. This weight reduction was achieved through the removal of carpeting and sound deadening, while the interior saw extensive use of Alcantara and carbon fiber. The bodywork received enhancements with a more aggressive front bumper, a deeper rear diffuser, and a decklid spoiler reminiscent of the original 250 GTO.<\/p>\n
