The Mercedes-AMG One<\/a> was unveiled in 2017, but it took 5 years for its production version to be ready. The extended time between the unveiling and production was mainly needed not for car development, as it was already finalized in 2017, but to adapt the F1-derived powertrain for road legality and daily use.<\/p>\n

The internal combustion engine is a modified 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 from the 2014-2016 Mercedes-AMG F1 cars, adjusted for emissions, durability, and practicality. Producing 574 hp at 9,000 rpm, it works alongside four electric motors, including an MGU-K and an MGU-H like modern F1 cars, contributing 360 kW (483 hp) to the total power output.<\/p>\n

With a plug-in hybrid system, the AMG One can travel a few kilometers in zero-emissions EV mode. The transmission is a 7-speed single-clutch automated manual to keep the car lightweight, and its carbon-fiber body results in a final kerb weight of 1,695 kg.<\/p>\n
