The Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution hypercar<\/a> has made history by setting a new production road car lap record at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA), clocking in at 2 minutes and 10.90 seconds on the 3.41-mile-long track. Surpassing the McLaren P1<\/a> by 7 seconds and the previous record holder, the Czinger C21, by 0.34 seconds, the Venom F5 marks itself as one of the fastest American cars ever produced.<\/p>\n

Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 6.6L V8 engine generating a staggering 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 7-speed single-clutch, semi-automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters.<\/p>\n

Tested by their in-house driver, David Donohue, the Venom F5 demonstrated remarkable cornering and braking capabilities, achieving up to +1.59 G in corners and -1.61 G under braking, thanks to MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, Brembo brakes, carbon ceramic discs, and advanced Bosch ABS technology.<\/p>\n

The record-breaking lap was timed by RACELOGIC using their VBOX satellite telemetry and data logging systems. Equipped with street legal tires and fueled by regular Shell pump ethanol, the Venom F5 ran on standard Pennzoil fluids during the lap.<\/p>\n
