About a year ago we saw some renderings of what we can only describe as a Lamborghini Diablo Restomod, the classic Diablo from the Nineties being reimagined for the 21st century, the company was called Eccentrica Cars, founded by Emanuel Colombini in San Marino, Italy, and they later unveiled a static, grey prototype in Milan back in July of 2023 … today we get to see the first driveable version of the car to be revealed at The Quail, and the intention is to build just 19 units of this very special Lamborghini Diablo, at a price of about $1,700,000 each, and that’s without a donor car mind you, the first customer units are planned for the Summer of 2025 as this purple car is actually owned by Mr Colombini himself, and not for sale.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Eccentrica V12 comes with an amazing 5.7-liter V12 engine pumping out 550 hp through a manual six-speed gearbox, yes, another V12 with a manual you can buy in 2024, that’s just insane, and another blast from the past is the pop-up headlights, but unfortunately, those are no longer legal to use, so the Eccentrica comes with stunning pop-down headlight as the prototype suggested, and while at first glance you might think it’s just a Diablo with some tweaks, upon further inspection you’ll quickly notice a lot is different from the legend from the Nineties.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Eccentrica V12 comes with nice, five-spoke 19-inch wheels, the front bumper reminds me of the Diablo GT unit, and the wider front wheel arches are reminiscent of that limited edition supercar too, similar to the rear bumper treatment, another inspiration clearly taken from the Diablo GT, what is completely bespoke from Eccentrica is the engine cover, complete with two air intakes that might seem to be taken from the Diablo SV, but with a completely custom design, as is the entire engine cover.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And the customization continues in the interior, which is where the Eccentrica V12 really shines with that stunning gear lever for the six-speed gearbox, and yes, you might wonder where reverse gear went, well, it’s button-operated, the grille is just for the six forward gears now, and no, it’s not a Lamborghini gearbox, this is an updated unit with bespoke ratios. The steering column is another work of art, as are the custom switches and the stunning infotainment system that’s been added to the interior, and I even love the classic, but contemporary design of the seats, they look amazing.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We all know the Lamborghini Diablo already came with a 5.7-liter V12 back in the 1999 edition of for instance the Diablo SV, so why Eccentrica went down the path to upgrade a 5.7-liter V12 for this restomod limited edition is a bit baffling to me. By fitting a custom camshaft, electronic throttle bodies, and a different flywheel, this V12 now delivers 550 hp and 600 Nm of torque … if you would compare that to the 6.0-liter V12 from the Diablo VT 6.0, the numbers don’t make sense at all, the latter had 550 hp and 620 Nm of torque straight from the factory, so wouldn’t it make more sense to ‘tune’ that engine for more power?\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n
