During the 2018 Monterey Car Week in California, we were confronted with the most impressive Lamborghini Aventador evolution ever, the SVJ, for Super Veloce Jota, a limited production model (900 units for the Coupe, 800 units for the Roadster) powered by the NA V12 that made Lamborghini famous since the 60s, but for the Aventador it was a newly developed 6.5.-liter V12, at first with 700 hp but by the time the SVJ came around, that number was raised to 770 hp and 720 Nm of torque in a car that put 1,525 kg on the scale.<\/p>\n

Fast forward to 2024 when we finally see the latest flagship from Sant’Agata being delivered to customers, the Lamborghini Revuelto that replaces the Aventador while still retaining the legendary V12 engine, again a 6.5-liter unit, but a completely new unit compared to the Aventador, now with 814 hp and 725 Nm of torque in a car that weighs 1,772 kg … but here comes the surprise, the Lamborghini Revuelto is a hybrid, which means that the V12 ICE engine only powers the rear wheels, the front wheels each get an electric motor fitted, while a third electric motor is fitted with the gearbox for the rear axle … each electric motor is capable of up to 150 hp, but when combined there is a limit imposed by the computer, total power output is 1,001 hp and 1,062 Nm of torque … very impressive numbers.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But the Revuelto is also about 250 kg heavier than the Aventador SVJ, so we have to admit that the current Revuelto is the base model, I’m sure there will be higher power models in the pipeline, while the Aventador SVJ was at the top of the performance range for that model … so how would that translate into a side by side drag race … would the higher power for the Revuelto be able to cope with the extra 250 kg in weight, or will the lighter Aventador SVJ beat the new flagship on a quarter mile?<\/p>\n
