McLaren debuted the Senna online on December 10, 2017, ahead of its official reveal at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Alongside the road-going version<\/a>, McLaren surprised audiences with the unveiling of the Senna GTR\u2014a track-only concept car that pushed the limits of the original design. With massive front and rear diffusers, a fire suppression system, and a stripped-out race interior, the GTR took the Senna\u2019s aggressive styling to new extremes.<\/p>\n

This concept allowed McLaren engineers to work without any road or race regulations, enabling them to create the most capable car possible. When it was released in 2020, the Senna GTR<\/a> was hailed as McLaren\u2019s fastest and most advanced car outside of Formula One.<\/p>\n

Free from road and race restrictions, the Senna GTR generates over 1,000kg of aerodynamic downforce and features a lightweight design. Its suspension system, borrowed from McLaren\u2019s GT3 race program, ensures exceptional handling on the track.<\/p>\n

Powering the GTR is a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering 825hp and 800Nm of torque through a seven-speed dual-clutch race transmission to the rear wheels. This allows the car to sprint from 0-60 mph in under 2.8 seconds and reach 124 mph in under 6.8 seconds. The Senna GTR pays tribute to the legendary Brazilian F1 champion Ayrton Senna, who secured 35 Grand Prix victories and four Constructors’ Championship titles with McLaren.<\/p>\n
