Most highly collectible models are hand-made by skilled artists. We pay a hefty price premium for the high quality and exclusivity of those models.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A few years ago, the German company CMC burst on the scale model scene with high-volume models but with extraordinary detail. Previous reviews in these pages have expounded on their Maserati 250F and Birdcage. Their newest release is similarly detailed\u2014a 1924 Bugatti T35.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At first glance, it seems just another nice scale model\u2014nice paint, detailed dashboard, safety-wire-secured body fasteners and leather hood straps. However, as you begin exploring, you will find one extraordinary detail after another. Unbuckle the hood straps and you are greeted with a firewall that duplicates the original machine-turned firewall, an operating worm-gear steering box and the louvers in the hood that, from the outside had appeared cast, are indeed stamped, and are open. The engine detail makes you want to engage the hand-crank and fire it up. Just like the real T35, the rear brakes are lever operated.
