Details:<\/strong> 509 ci 897 hp Kinsler injected Chevrolet V8 and Hewland 5-speed; Red and White (same scheme as raced in 1971)<\/p>\n

Price:<\/strong> The asking price is $275,000<\/p>\n

Market:<\/strong> There were approximately five to seven Lola T222 built, depending on the source. Needless to say, these do not come on the market very often so prices are hard to attain. We do know that Bonhams sold another T222 for $210,500 August, 2006, so that is a pretty good starting point.<\/p>\n

Comparable Can-Am racers include this McLaren M8E-F<\/a> for $245,000 or this McLaren M8B<\/a> for $350,000. Given the race-ready condition and known history, we estimate the asking price is market correct.<\/p>\n

Seller Comments:<\/strong> “Originally raced by Dave Causey in 6 Can Am races in 1971. Full documentation and FIA papers. Restored by RM Motorsports and maintained by Robin Automotive. Mechanically and cosmetically impeccable condition throughout including freshly rebuilt engine, gear box, etc. No excuses just pure speed and proven reliability. Paint scheme as raced in 1971.”<\/p>\n

Sports Car Digest Comments:<\/strong> We have always found the Lola T-222 to be one of the best looking Can-Am cars. Not only is it striking, but also brutal looking, which is certainly fitting for a Can-Am racer. We can only imagine how intimidating this beast must be to drive with 897 horsepower pushing a mere 1750 pounds.<\/p>\n

This multiple race winner was raced at the 2006 Goodwood Festival of Speed and 2007 Monterey Historics. It is ready for the 2008 Can-Am season, where races at Road America, Mosport and Laguna Seca will honor the 50th anniversary of Lola.<\/p>\n
