\"Maserati<\/a>The Maserati Ghibli is a two-door, two-seater coupe that debuted at the 1966 Turin Motor Show. The V8-powered Ghibli was the most popular Maserati vehicle since the automaker withdrew from racing in the 1950s, and it outsold its two biggest rivals, the Ferrari Daytona and the Lamborghini Miura.<\/p>\n

The car was powered by a front-placed quad-cam 330\u00a0hp V8 engine. It had a 0-60\u00a0mph acceleration time of 6.8 seconds, had a top speed of 154\u00a0mph and could be operated by either a five-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission. Maserati fitted the car with two fuel tanks, which could be filled via flaps on either side of the roof pillars. The car also featured pop-up headlamps, leather sport seats and Campagnolo alloy wheels.<\/p>\n

The convertible Ghibli Spyder went into production in 1969. The Spyders were relatively rare, and outnumbered by the coupes by almost ten to one. The slightly more powerful Ghibli SS (335 hp) was released in 1970. In all, 1149 Coupes, 125 Spyders and 25 Spyder SS models were produced.<\/p>\n

Seller Comments:<\/strong> “The car we have for sale is finished in red with tan leather upholstery and is in excellent condition throughout. A rare right-hand drive example originally supplied new to Australia, it has a KMS speedo. On its return to the UK it joined the ranks of Maserati UK’s heritage press fleet.”<\/p>\n

“An extensive amount of restoration work including an engine overhaul and bodywork refurbishment has been carried out and it recently graced the cover of Classic Cars<\/em> magazine (September 2007 issue). Campagnolo alloys, Pirelli tyres. The car is sold with a detailed history file, Maserati parts folder and MOT April 2008.”<\/p>\n

Sports Car Digest Comments:<\/strong> The May \u2013 August 2008 Cars That Matter<\/em> price guide advocates a $44,000 – $77,000 range. The Ghibli line has recently increased in price significantly, although it still screams a bargain when compared to its period competitors, the Ferrari Daytona and Lamborghini Miura.<\/p>\n
