\"Ferrari<\/a>Pinin Farina updated the 250 GT with the GT Lusso or GTL. Introduced at the 1962 Paris show, the car sported flowing lines and a fastback shape typical of the GT cars of the mid-1960s. Under the hood was the 250 GTO’s Tipo 168 engine with 250\u00a0hp and three Weber 36DCS carburetors. Scaglietti handled construction of the Lusso which lasted through 1964 with few modifications.<\/p>\n

In 2004, Sports Car International<\/em> named the 250 GT Lusso number ten on the list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s.<\/p>\n

1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Speciale by Fantuzzi For Sale <\/strong><\/p>\n

Details: <\/strong>Seller Fantasy Junction<\/a> is asking $795,000. Car is located in San Francisco Bay area.<\/p>\n

Seller Comments:<\/strong> “The 16th Lusso built, this car was originally grey metallic with a black interior, and was sold new to Luciano Pederzani, who, along with his brother Gianfranco, owned Tecno, a builder of Formula 1, 2, 3, and 4 cars. In 1964, Pederzani took the car to famed coachbuilder Fantuzzi who created a one-off treatment with more aerodynamic front end, faired in headlamps, and more pronounced rear spoiler.”<\/p>\n

“The car presents as a very original example that has seen very little cosmetic restoration. The body is extremely straight and solid, with excellent gaps. All panels open and fit well. There is some non-structural corrosion in selected areas, and the paint displays much cracking, imperfections, and peeling. The chrome remains original and shows some pitting, while the glass is very original across the board, but well-preserved. The original Marchal headlamps are still present, and protected by the aerodynamic headlight covers, in excellent shape.”<\/p>\n

“The car drives superbly, with a certain coherence that is present in cars that have never been mistreated or taken apart. The engine is responsive, with crisp throttle response and excellent oil pressure. The car is very tight but also displays excellent composure, and the gearbox performs well. The car is mechanically sound and can be driven anywhere in confidence.”<\/p>\n

Sports Car Digest Comments:<\/strong> The 2008 Sports Car Market<\/em> price guide suggests a $450,000 – $600,000 price range for a Ferrari Lusso, while the May \u2013 August 2008 Cars That Matter<\/em> price guide advocates a $520,200 – $660,000 range.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, this one-off Lusso is best compared to similar Ferrari specials, not average<\/em> Lussos. If the Fantuzzi body strikes the right chord, however, then the high asking price will not be an issue for potential buyers.<\/p>\n
