It is with sadness that we report the loss of British Le Mans\u2013winner, Peter Jopp.<\/p>\n
Jopp began racing in the 500-cc class with a Cooper in 1952 before moving to an Emeryson in ’53, winning the consolation final at Brands Hatch in June and finishing 2nd to the sister Emeryson of Harold Daniell in July. In 1954, he finished a creditable 5th in the Whitsun meeting at Goodwood.<\/p>\n
In 1956, Peter partnered with Reg Bicknell in a Lotus XI for the Le Mans 24-hour race. They finished 7th overall and won the 1,100-cc class. He competed several more times at Le Mans in a Triumph TR3, a Sunbeam Alpine, and an AC Cobra before turning his attentions to rallying for Rootes, Ford, Lancia, and BMC.
