USAC\u2019s Duane Carter was interested because he wanted Indy car races in Italy (Monza), Germany (Avus), and France (Monthlery).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In April 1957, Pat O\u2019Connor tried Monza, and he lapped about 20 mph quicker than at Indianapolis.
