Sir Stirling Moss, winner of 16 Formula One Grands Prix and countless other races, has been awarded the Royal Automobile Club\u2019s Spirit of the Woodcote Trophy for his efforts in preparing his OSCA FS 372 for this year\u2019s Spa Six Hours. Teaming with co-driver Roger Earl, Moss claimed victory in the C1 class at the season finale of the Motor Racing Legends\u2013organized series for postwar sports racing cars. Upon acquiring the car two years ago, Moss entrusted its restoration to specialists Hall & Hall, but a series of teething problems with the finished machine kept it out of action until Spa.<\/p>\n

The award, presented this year for the third time, is sponsored by Fiskens, the London-based purveyor of fine historic automobiles.<\/p>\n

Fiskens office manager James Mitchell explained the rationale behind Sir Stirling\u2019s nomination: \u201cAn awful lot of emotional energy and hard work got the car to Spa, and that typifies the attitude of competitors in the RAC Woodcote Trophy.
