The decade of the 1950s was a particularly magical time for sports and competition cars, and MG was in the thick of it with factory racers and experimental cars.\u00a0 While celebrated by MG aficionados, the experimental MGs are not widely known, but in general they were awesome machines.<\/p>\n<p>In 1954, George Eyston completed a flying 10-mile speed trial at 153.69 mph in EX 171. Two years later, the car went 170.15 mph motivated by an MGA twin cam.
