Each June, Motor Racing Legends\u2014organizer of the historic support race at the Le Mans 24 Hours\u2014also runs a Le Mans tour for members of car clubs. Uniquely, the trip includes the rare privilege of driving on the full Le Mans circuit on the Saturday morning of the 24 Hours weekend, before the start of the world\u2019s greatest endurance race.<\/p>\n
In the past, the tour has been arranged for a specific marque\u2014in 2008, for example, the Ferrari Owners\u2019 Club was invited to put together a \u201cgrid\u201d of its members\u2019 cars, and more than 60 Ferraris\u2014from F40 to 355 Spider, F430 to Challenge Stradale, 328GTB to 550 Maranello\u2014took part.<\/p>\n
But 2009 will be different. This June, Motor Racing Legends will run a multimarque Heritage Parade, accepting applications from classic and modern cars\u2014marques with a traditional link to Le Mans, from Aston Martin and Ferrari,\u00a0to Jaguar, Bentley, Austin-Healey, and many more.<\/p>\n
With the roads closed to traffic, it\u2019s an emotional journey: accelerating down the famous Mulsanne Straight, tackling the fast, sweeping Porsche Curves, and cruising past the towering grandstands along the pit-straight. To quote just two participants from last year\u2019s trip:<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving watched the race for years from the other side of the fence, I will never ever forget the experience of heading down the start-finish straight at speed.\u2026 It was difficult to comprehend that I was actually there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are very few people who get to drive the full circuit on the weekend of the Le Mans 24 Hours, with all the public roads closed, unless they\u2019re actually racing there. It\u2019s a fantastic experience and a great privilege.\u201d<\/p>\n
