Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) and the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) have agreed to end their decade-long alliance. A consequent restructuring of ownership and management of both groups has been implemented, and both will now proceed independently to promote their individual identities and unique histories.<\/p>\n

Both organizations have been in operation since the late 1970s, pursuing different agendas within the vintage and historic racing community until joining forces in Y2K. Their split has been amicable, with HSR president Steve Simpson saying, \u201cWe are very pleased that this restructuring has now been effected, and believe it will benefit all HSR and SVRA members. We look forward to continuing cooperation with SVRA in all we do, including at our upcoming joint event at Road America in May.\u201d<\/p>\n

While HSR will continue its emphasis on cars from more recent times, SVRA will maintain its historic focus on the classic eras of motor sport from the 1950s through the \u201960s and into the \u201970s.<\/p>\n

\u201cSVRA is a great organization and I am pleased to resume my former position at its helm,\u201d offers Peter McLaughlin. \u201cSVRA will be moving dramatically forward with its 2010 schedule and beyond, and I believe both SVRA and HSR will be much stronger as a result of this move.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
