David Uihlein, founder of the Harry A. Miller Club and a dedicated historian of the Miller marque, passed away January 29th of natural causes at his home in the Milwaukee suburb of Mequon.<\/p>\n
An executive in the brewing industry as well as the owner of Banner Welder Co., Mr. Uihlein was man of many interests beyond his enthusiasm for the cars of Harry Miller, and his philanthropic work provided benefits to many in the health and educational sectors.<\/p>\n
It is for his work in establishing the Harry A. Miller Club and the annual Meet at The Milwaukee Mile for which he is remembered here, however. Spurred by his love for the machines of Mr. Miller and his collection of them, he founded the club in 1995, with the first Miller Meet taking place later that same year.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s Miller Meet, scheduled for July 9\u201310 in Milwaukee, will be dedicated to Uihlein\u2019s memory. Club President Dana Mecum said, \u201cThe Club will continue to hold its events at The Milwaukee Mile because of its historical significance as the oldest continuing race track, and because Miller cars were specifically designed to run on its one-mile oval. Our event just wouldn\u2019t be the same if it was held anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr. Uihlein is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margery, two children, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
