Bauhaus architecture by the likes of Mies van der Rohe and LeCorbusier gave us functional homes described as &#8220;machines for living.&#8221; Art Deco and Arte Moderne set new standards of interior decor, then influenced everything from streamlined railway locomotives to dishware.
