Created by Carroll Shelby in 1962 when he installed Ford\u2019s new small-block V8 engine in an AC Ace chassis, the car quickly became a front-runner in races around the globe, and beat Ferrari to the World Manufacturers Championship in 1965, the first and only American marque ever to do so.<\/p>\n
