\"\"<\/a> The scheduled revival of Bahamas Speed Week, set for the end of November, has generated much interest in the history of the major league sports car racing that regularly took place in the islands during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Designed to help promote tourism in the islands, Speed Week quickly gained popularity as an end-of-season respite from the rigors of the sport, but ultimately failed to keep pace with the advance of safety standards, falling out of favor and off the racing calendar.<\/p>\n

This is the official site for the Revival event and provides full information about this year\u2019s festivities. In the menu bar across the top of the home page are a variety of choices that will take you to information pages about the event. The first one, labeled \u201cBahamas Speed Week 1954-1966,\u201d provides a thumbnail overview of the baker\u2019s dozen of races run there back in the day, while others lead to the details of this year\u2019s Revival outing, with listings of scheduled events on a day-by-day basis, entry and contact information and a circuit map, as well as links to relevant publications.
