The one-day sale realised a total of \u00a3694,000 with 91% sold by lot (81% by value).<br \/>\nTim Schofield, Head of the Department comments, &#8220;Once again, the appeal of the London to Brighton run has a secured a busy saleroom and successful auction at Bonhams.&#8221;<br \/>\nOne of the oldest cars entered into the London to Brighton run, a 113-year old 1898 Fisson 8hp Twin-Cylinder Six-seat Wagonette, sold for \u00a3156,600. It is believed to be the only surviving Panhard-style Fisson.<br \/>\nAlso entered into the run was a 112-year old 1899 Panhard-Levassor Type M2F 6hp Wagonette that sold for \u00a3158,800. The French firm was responsible for developing the Syst\u00e8me Panhard, essentially the layout of the modern motorcar, and the Type M2F 6hp Wagonette was an excellent example of its type.
