From its dustcover image of the opening lap of the 1967 United States Grand Prix to the closing photo of a leaping Tex Hopkins waving the checkered flag, this book takes you inside Watkins Glen during the circuit\u2019s years as host of the USGP. Author Argetsinger benefits, of course, from being in the perfect place at the perfect time to write this book. His father, Cameron, was founder and organizer of racing at Watkins Glen, giving Michael intimate knowledge of what was going on, but this doesn\u2019t mean he sugar coats anything, for comment is offered on various contentious topics, not least the infamous carnage at \u201cThe Bog.\u201d<\/p>\n

By no means a comprehensive history of F1 at The Glen, the book nevertheless recaps each of the 20 USGPs (as well as prior \u201cFormula Libre\u201d races) held at the circuit and illustrates them with a superb selection of photography, many from the \u201cnot seen before\u201d file. Written to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Grand Prix at the track, this book serves a charitable purpose as well, since all profits benefit the International Automotive Research Center, headquartered at the track.<\/p>\n
