Driving Kathy and Phil Reilly\u2019s ex-Carlos Pace 1974 Brabham BT44, Dan Marvin claimed victory in the Historic Grand Prix support race prior to November\u2019s U.S. Grand Prix at the brand-new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Californian Marvin won the 10-lap contest by 3.5 seconds from polesitter David Martinez, as the Mexican\u2019s ex-Riccardo Patrese 1980 Arrows A3 was slowed by an electrical problem. Texan Charles Nearburg brought his ex-Alan Jones 1980 Williams FW07 home in 3rd place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis circuit is among the most difficult I have ever driven, very demanding, quirky and technical,\u201d said the widely experienced Marvin after his victory. \u201cIt\u2019s a terrific facility, and I\u2019m astonished at the quality. I hope it will awaken people in the U.S. to F1.\u201d<\/p>\n
