COYS Autosport International auction saw bidders battling for Freddie Mercury’s Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, which reached \u00a374,600, more than six times its estimate.<\/p>\n

This very special Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was bought for Freddie Mercury’s personal use by his managing company Goose Productions Ltd. in 1979 and pre-sale expectations estimated it could sell for just \u00a39,000 to \u00a311,000.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>After fierce bidding, on the telephone, with four active callers at one point, the car was finally sold to a Russian businessman.<\/p>\n

Chris Routledge, Managing Director of international auctioneers COYS, said: \u201cAutosport 2013 proved to be another successful event for COYS in Birmingham on Saturday January 12. It underlined the global reach of this event with the Freddie Mercury Rolls-Royce selling to Russia and other notable sales being made to Japan, the west coast of the U.S. and Colombia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other important collectors\u2019 cars that went under the hammer included a unique 1935 BMW Typ. 309\/328 Veritas with FIA papers that sold for \u00a3249,000, a 1966 427 AC Shelby Cobra that hit \u00a3205,000 and a 1955 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Evocazione that went for \u00a391,700.\u00a0COYS next auction will be the “Spring Classics” on March 12th at London\u2019s Royal Horticultural Society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
